Greater

Our God is greater
Our God is stronger
God you are higher than any other
Our God is Healer
Awesome and power
Our God, Our God.

As these words were sung with abandon and passion this morning at church, my heart was overwhelmed with joy, thankfulness, humility and gratitude. What a beautiful message and reminder. The song continues on saying:

And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
And if our God is for us then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
What can stand against?

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine life would bring me and Ray on such a journey. Although our first 2 1/2 years marriage have brought some of the most difficult and painful experiences we have ever walked through, the fires have always died and our God has always been faithful to bring healing and life from wounds and death. Our journey has not only bonded us as friends and partners in a powerful way, it has (more importantly) brought us to our knees at the throne of God. We have individually and as a couple come to know and trust God in a more honest and profound way than we ever thought possible.

Through our journey, we have had moments in which we were certain the weight of pain would surely crush and kill us. But our God is greater, stronger, healer, awesome and power. God did not abandon us to darkness and pain. God did not allow flames to consume us or the water overtake us. God suffered along side of us and now has quite literally made beauty from ashes and brought life from death.

Today we, with unending humility and even more gratefulness, begin the celebration of the passing of the first trimester and the beginning of the second.

Our journey to this day has forever impacted how we view the life of this little one. He/She is a gift from God and is God's alone.

As the year continues on and the season Advent comes, we will be waiting to celebrate not only the arrival of our savior but also the long awaited arrival of our son (or daughter).

To God be all the glory and praise.
