Another possibility? Yes, please.

I won't spend a lot of time talking about this new stand Al Mohler is taking against the practice of yoga. I am a lot things: a wife, a minister, the wife of a minster, the member of a southern baptist church AND I'm a yoga instructor. A yoga instructor who is deeply in love with Christ and who finds beauty and great appreciation in the practice of stilling my mind, reconnecting with my breath, and encountering the presence of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in that mental peace. My yoga practice gives me the opportunity to care for the body that God has given me (and commanded me to care for) through cardiovascular and muscle strengthening work. Yoga invites me to live in the present moment; something our western world is not skilled in. I am invited to listen, to feel, and watch for the activity of God in the present moment. To still myself enough that I have the the chance to hear from God, when the noise and pace of my life may have missed His words to me. And most rewardingly, it allows me the opportunity to help lead other yogis into the presence of Christ in a new way.

Though this can be very good and very bad, our American Christianity has perfected the taking of secular things and "making" them Christian. Yes, yoga's roots come from a background that does not acknowledge the Trinity of Christianity, but rather than being afraid of the entire practice and just trowing it completely out, I wish we could experience it (with caution, especially if you're new in your faith) and learn that we as Christians can make this a Christ-centered and very healthy practice (and lets be honest, us baptist could use some practice in health, considering we are some of the most unhealthy in America).
